Japanese get advice from University of Cambridge on building tech clusters

Dr Tim Minshall of the Institute for Manufacturing, at the University of Cambridge ( was the only non-Japanese speaker at the recent 2010 Japan Cluster Conference in Tokyo.

Dr Minshall’s gave the keynote presentation  called ‘“What’s the cluster strategy to overcome global competition?”’,and  looked at ways in which open innovation can support cluster development and vice-versa.

The presentation given by Dr. Minshall presented a number of cluster cases from around the world, and also addressed what role clusters can play in recovery from economic downturns.
